Gudruns Salon has been established by Gudrun Hasle to provide a space for the discussion of visual art. Gudrun Hsle states that she is interested in sustaining thoughts and verbal communication of art. She believes it is important for artists to keep developing their language on art outside of institutions such as Art Schools.
Historically, at the end of the 17th century, Salons were frequently held in private drawing room: a lady, reclining on her bed, would recieve close friends who would sit on chairs drawn around. The salon was really an informal university for women in which women were able to exchange ideas, recieve and give criticism, read their own works and hear the works and ideas of other intellectuals.
