(NB: Bjergbestigeren Sir Edmund Hillary var en af de første mennesker på toppen af Mount Everest (eftersigende fik den tynde luft på tinden ham til at se syner som for eksempel sværme af mediterende munke i luften etc.) Derudover besteg Sir Edmund Hillary ti andre toppe i Himalaya i 1950'erne og 60'erne. 1985 deltog han i en ekspedition til Sydpolen og i 1977 rejste han fra Ganges udmunding til dens udspring. Han døde d. 11. januar i år)
